Fleetworthy announced an expanded partnership with HAAS Alert to integrate digital roadside safety alerts into its platform.
The integration connects Fleetworthy’s Safety+ platform with HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud system to provide real-time notifications to motorists and commercial drivers about stopped vehicles and emergency responders.
Stopped Commercial Truck Protection
Through the integration, HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud platform broadcasts real-time digital alerts to nearby motorists when a commercial truck equipped with Fleetworthy Safety+ is stopped in an unsafe location.
When a truck stops on the shoulder of an interstate or major highway due to inspections, mechanical issues or other roadside events, Safety Cloud PROTECT automatically detects the vehicle and sends alerts to approaching motorists. These alerts appear through connected vehicle systems in select Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and Alfa Romeo vehicles, as well as navigation apps including Waze and Apple Maps.
Rear-end crashes involving heavy trucks can result in serious injuries due to the size difference between commercial vehicles and passenger cars. Roadside incidents also present risks for commercial drivers and emergency responders, particularly in low-visibility conditions or changing traffic patterns.
Safety Cloud alerts are designed to extend beyond a driver’s line of sight, notifying motorists approaching around curves, over hills or in poor visibility conditions to provide additional reaction time.
“Fleet safety means protecting drivers not only while they’re moving, but during roadside events,” said Martin Murtland, vice president of product at Fleetworthy. “By expanding our integration with HAAS Alert, we are extending digital protection beyond the cab and helping drivers reduce risk.”
Emergency Vehicle Alerts for Fleetworthy Foundations Users
As part of the partnership, Drivewyze Free is being rebranded as Fleetworthy Foundations as part of the company’s brand unification.
Fleetworthy Foundations users will receive real-time alerts for stopped emergency vehicles through HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud ALERT system. When fire trucks, ambulances or police vehicles activate their service lights, Fleetworthy-enabled trucks receive in-cab alerts warning drivers of responders ahead.
These alerts provide advance notice before an emergency scene becomes visible, helping drivers comply with Move Over laws and adjust speed or change lanes when conditions allow.
The emergency vehicle alert capability is currently available along interstate highways in about one-third of U.S. states, with nationwide coverage anticipated later this year.
“Digital alerting helps close the gap between what drivers can see and what they need to know,” said Jeremy Agulnek, chief product officer at HAAS Alert. “Integrating Safety Cloud ALERT and Safety Cloud PROTECT with Fleetworthy’s platform helps provide real-time information that can improve safety for drivers, responders and the public.”
States may also expand alert coverage through Fleetworthy Smart Roadways, which can notify commercial drivers about additional roadside responders connected to Safety Cloud, including tow trucks, roadside assistance vehicles, construction crews and utility workers.
Fleetworthy and HAAS Alert said the partnership is intended to support connected safety technologies designed to improve visibility and reduce roadside crash risk.
