For the second time in 2018, Nussbaum Transportation has increased truck driver pay, this time for an average of an additional 3 cents per mile as of July 1.

Combined with an earlier February raise, Nussbaum has increased base driver pay by 10% or 5 cents per mile. Increases are primarily for over-the-road drivers but will also apply to some dedicated lanes.

“Nussbaum values drivers as our number one customer,” said Brent Nussbaum, CEO. “By taking care of our drivers first, our drivers take care of our customers, and our customers take care of us.”

Not only is base pay increasing, but the weekly guarantee received a boost as well to give a safety net for weeks when freight doesn’t come together just right. The top pay weekly guarantee is increasing to $1,150. The rate for paid time off has also increased, matching the value of the weekly guarantee, both for eight paid holidays each year and for any vacation time that was earned for years worked. PTO now pays $230 per day. Nussbaum also offers reimbursement for paid parking and detention pay after just one hour.

“This pay increase, when coupled with our recent 2-cent (increase) in February 2018, brings our mileage rate increase up to 5 cents per mile in 2018,” said Jeremy Stickling, vice president of human resources and safety. “When coupled with our robust Weekly Guarantee and Paid Time Off rate boost, it is the biggest increase in Nussbaum’s history.”
