Gage Zero Announces Two New Fleet Charging Hubs

Gage Zero, an Austin, Texas-based fleet electrification solutions company has announced two new fleet charging stations for electric trucks. One is in Fontana, California. The other will be located in the mixed-used development of AllianceTexas, near Fort Worth. Gage Zero said in a press release that it deploys, owns, and operates reliable charging infrastructure designed for fleet operations. The company said it has developed a multi-fleet charging hub model that allows fleets of varying vehicle types to use the same site to charge their electric trucks.

Gage Zero provides the upfront capital to develop, own, and operate the hubs, allowing fleets to sign up as customers and enjoy reliable, managed charging without distracting from their daily operations or tying up their hard-earned capital.

Earlier this month, Gage Zero noted that its plans to develop a fleet charging depot in AllianceTexas are the first of its kind in the state.

Fleet Partnerships

"We know California is leading the way for fleet electrification because of its policies, but we also understand the strain this puts on fleet owners and operators in the state," said Zeina El-Azzi, Gage Zero founder and CEO. "Our goal is to create conveniently located, reliable charging sites that make it easier and more affordable for fleets to electrify, whether they are in a state mandating the transition or not."

Kam-Way Transportation, a freight broker and asset-based truckload provider operates a freight business in multiple hubs on the West coast, including Fontana, and will use the Gage Zero Fontana hub to charge its fleet customers' electric trucks. Kam-Way is beginning their transition to electric to meet their own sustainability goals, customer ESG requirements, and regulatory mandates in California such as the Advanced Clean Fleet Rule introduced by the California Air & Resources Board (CARB).

The Fontana hub will feature high-speed chargers to accommodate the charging needs of Class 8 trucks and other vehicles.

Gage Zero will develop, own, and operate the Fontana site, removing the need for fleets to assemble a large amount of capital and expertise in order to build out and operate their own charging infrastructure.

Intermodel Hub in Texas

Hillwood, a Perot company known for its forward-thinking approach to development, will partner with Gage Zero to create Texas’ and the region’s first public commercial EV charging facility, the companies said.

This facility will cater to electric trucks and last-mile fleets.

The EV fleet charging hub marks Hillwood’s commitment to future-focused development, addressing both today’s transportation needs and tomorrow’s resiliency challenges, the companies said.

AllianceTexas is a global logistics hub consisting of the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone (MIZ), BNSF Alliance Intermodal Facility, one of the largest intermodal hubs in the nation, Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport (AFW) and direct access to I-35W and State Highway 170.

Alliance Westport location is across from the entrance to the BNSF Intermodal Facility with over 15 million square feet of developable next-generation distribution facility space. Designed and master planned to be fully integrated with a smart-infrastructure platform, it features electric and autonomous freight optimization capabilities.
