The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration recently granted a waiver to allow carriers to continue to operate intermodal chassis with expired inspection decals.

The waiver was granted to the Intermodal Association of North America on behalf of intermodal equipment providers and carriers that operate intermodal chassis. Annual inspection decals that show an expiration date of March 31, 2020, or later, will be allowed to continue operating to ensure the transport of critical products and supplies during the COVID-19 outbreak, according to FMCSA.

The waiver is effective from June 1 to Sept. 1, 2020, or sooner if the President ends his declaration of national emergency.
