A federal judge, ending more than a decade of litigation, has approved a legal settlement between the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and the trucking company C.R. England.

Under the terms C.R. England will pay $3 million to settle all claims raised in a lawsuit against federal “truth in leasing” regulations, including attorneys’ fees and costs. The settlement was agreed to in June and its approval was only recently announced by the group through the website of its publication Landline magazine.

The settlement covers all owner-operators who leased equipment and services to carrier from June 2, 1998, through May 15, 2006, which includes approximately 7,000 drivers.

The case was filed in 2002 by the association and three members.
