The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has reinstated an electronic logging device to its list of registered electronic logging devices after it was removed from the list in December.
As of February 25, 2026, the following device is now listed on the list of registered ELDs. The ELD was previously revoked but has been reinstated.
ELD Name: Forward Thinking Systems—Field Warrior ELD
(BYOD)
Model Number: FW-BYOD
ELD Identifier: FTSFW1
ELD Provider: Forward Thinking Systems LLC
This was one of four devices removed from the list in December.
ELDs are electronic devices used to track commercial driver hours of service and are mandatory for most interstate trucking operations.
Why Are ELDs Revoked or Reinstated?
Devices are added to the list via a self-certification process. When FMCSA determines ELDs are not meeting the technical requirements, or the ELD is no longer available, it removes them from the list.
Motor carriers and drivers using ELDs that are not on the list are instructed to stop using them and switch to paper logs or another backup method, and to replace them with compliant devices within 60 days.
If an ELD provider corrects the deficiencies, the agency will place the ELD back on the Registered Devices list and inform the industry and the field of the update.
The FMCSA recently announced an overhaul of the vetting process for electronic logging devices.
The new process will help ensure non-compliant devices are blocked before they ever reach FMCSA’s registered ELD list.
