Daimler’s Detroit Assurance 5.0 includes an optional lane keep assist feature that helps drivers keep from drifting out of the lane. Using a camera-based setup, the system will self-steer the truck keeping it between the lines using the lane markers. It is capable of making minor corrections for crosswinds, pavement geometry and vehicle alignment. Equipment Editor Jim Park was able to test the system out in Portland to see how lane keep assist performs out on the highway.
