PeopleNet Reveals Fleet Tech Developments at User Conference
PeopleNet announced several fleet-focused technology developments at this year’s in.sight User Conference + Expo, involving electronic logging devices, data analysis, hardware, and video intelligence.

PeopleNet announced a collaboration to develop an ELD compliance solution with fellow Trimble company ISE, an engineering and systems firm. PeopleNet plans to integrate ISE Fleet Services’ eFleetSuite compliance applications into its existing solution, PeopleNet’s eDriver Logs, which automates hours of service.
“As our customers begin to migrate to ELDs, the combination of these two transformative products will give them access to new features while still receiving the same high level of support they’ve come to expect from PeopleNet,” said Eric Witty, vice president, product for PeopleNet.
PeopleNet also announced Custom Reporting through PeopleNet Central Intelligence, a user interface that combines all of the company’s reporting, business intelligence, and analytics solutions into a single web portal. With Custom Reporting, customers can create their own custom dashboards and reports and access data with an online database connection. This new capability allows fleets to create solutions specific to their business needs, going beyond the standard PeopleNet Dashboard and Report offering.
“The launch of Custom Reporting gives users a whole new level of data customization and serviceability,” said Tom Fansler, president, Trimble Transportation Mobility Analytics. “No other solution offers this breadth of capabilities to allow for on-the-fly data discovery, blending, and reporting with dynamic visualization to help provide insights into a fleet’s performance.”
The PeopleNet Video Intelligence solution has been enhanced with multiple updates in the past 12 months, aimed at improving the functionality and user experience for both drivers and back office personnel. Some of the enhancements include side view cameras, Executive Summary Dashboards, a DVR Health tab, a Snapshot feature that provides real-time views from vehicles, expanded filtering options to identify driver trends in a particular region, and configurable posted speed warnings.
“PeopleNet Video Intelligence allows us to watch out for all drivers in our fleet,” said Curtis Carr, vice president, safety and risk management for Estes Express Lines. “Through these continued improvements to the platform, we are able to rely on cutting-edge technology that helps our drivers and back office personnel work together to make the roads safer for everyone.”
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab E, Note 4 and J3 have now been certified to run PeopleNet software, the company announced, marking an expansion of display options for fleets that require an off-the-shelf mobility solution that allows them to run proprietary company apps, approved third-party programs and PeopleNet software on the same device.
With the Samsung Devices, fleets can deploy lightweight and capable solutions running PeopleNet fleet mobility software alongside other applications.
The in.sight User Conference is jointly hosted by PeopleNet and TMW Systems and is being held in Nashville, Tennessee.
