These companies are leading the industry in sustainability, pursuing their “green” goals in areas such as fuel efficiency, alternative fuels, zero-emission options, and environmentally friendly facilities.
Each year, HDT’s editors put out a call for nominations and fleet submissions to be considered for HDT Top Green Fleet honors. We comb through those submissions and look at factors such as:
Adoption of alternative fuels such as natural gas and renewable fuels
Using zero-emission trucks such as battery-electric or hydrogen fuel cell
Industry-leading fuel economy
Freight-efficiency strategies
Leading-edge “green” facilities
Sustainability goals
Willingness to share their experience with others
Special attention is given to initiatives in the past year and to plans for the coming year.
HDT’s Top Green Fleets awards started in 2013. This year’s honorees are featured in the March/April print edition of Heavy Duty Trucking. Most of this year’s honorees have been named an HDT Top Green Fleet multiple times.
