SAF-Holland fifth wheels will be standard equipment on all new moderate- and severe-duty applications on Freightliner and Western Star tractors, according to SAF-Holland.
The moderate-duty standard offering fifth wheel is the FW35 in a 12-inch sliding mount configuration. It has a 55,000-pound vertical load rating and features the highly reliable TwinLock jaw mechanism.
The standard position severe-duty model FW70 fifth wheel features a 24-inch severe-duty sliding mount configuration, a 70,000-pound vertical load rating, and a 200,000-pound maximum drawbar pull.
“Our strengthened DTNA partnership and this standard positioning opportunity will greatly benefit extra-duty fleet customers,” said Jason Cantu, product manager, fifth wheel.
The FW35 is rated for multiple applications and is available in a variety of non-standard position models, including the FW33 LowLube.
Option requests include air release for in-cab lock release, and for the highest level of fleet safety the Electronic Lock Indicator – Technology Enhanced (ELI-te) is designed to help the driver accomplish successful fith-wheel coupling every time.
The FW35 and the FW70 are also available with the optional NoTilt, and the Kompensator mounting bracket, in both stationary and sliding mounting systems.
