HDT provides a monthly recall roundup featuring heavy-duty truck and trailer recalls announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Below are the recalls from August 2023. NHTSA recalls address safety risks, and vehicle owners must have safety defects repaired by dealers at no cost to prevent potential injuries or fatalities.

Daimler Trucks North America Recalls

  • Vehicle:

    • 2023 Freightliner M2.

    • FCCC MT 55G Walk in Van Chassis.

    • FCCC S2C-106 Conventional Cab & Chassis

    • FCCC MC Chassis.

    • Thomas Built SAF-T-LINER C2

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,280.

  • Component: Power train.

  • Breakdown: The driveshafts can break under certain loading conditions.

  • Solution: Replace the driveshafts.

Isuzu Motors Limited Group Recalls

  • Vehicles:

    • 2023-2024 NPR Gas.

    • NPR HD Gas.

    • 2024 NQR Gas.

    • NRR Gas.

    • 2023-2024 Chevrolet LCF 3500HG.

    • Chevrolet LCF 4500HG.

    • 2024 Chevrolet LCF 5500HG.

    • Chevrolet LCF 5500XG.

  • Potential Units Affected: 19,479.

  • Component: Ignition coil pack fuses.

  • Breakdown: The chassis harness may have an incorrectly sized wire seal for the 2 externally mounted engine ignition coil pack fuse holders, which can allow water intrusion and cause the fuses to corrode.

  • Solution: Replace both engine ignition coil pack fuse holder assemblies.

Autocar Recalls

  • Vehicles:

    • 2023 ACX (Xpeditor).

    • DC (Legend).

  • Potential Units Affected: 605.

  • Component:Powertrain driveline.

  • Breakdown: The powertrain driveline center support bearing hardware may not have been properly secured.

  • Solution: Secure or replace the powertrain driveline support bearing hardware.

Yokohama Tire Recalls

  • Component: 504C, size 11R22.5 16H tires.

  • Potential Units Affected: 6,992.

  • Breakdown: A defective belt cushion splice may allow air to leak into sidewall.

  • Solution: Replace the affected tires.

Navistar Recalls

  • Vehicles:

  • Potential Units Affected: 624.

  • Component: Driveshaft.

  • Breakdown: The driveshafts can break under certain loading conditions.

  • Solution: Replace the driveshafts.

Trail King Recalls

  • Vehicles: 1992-2023 TKFA, TKPA, AB, and AB EXT trailers equipped with pin-on axles or pivot extensions.

  • Potential Units Affected: 5,641

  • Component: Trailer shims.

  • Breakdown: The shims that transfer weight between the trailer and the pin-on axle may detach if the air line or air suspension lose compression.

  • Solution: install new shims, tether, and hardware to tether the shims to the pin-on axle or pivot extension.
