RoadOne IntermodaLogistics is continuing the national expansion of its intermodal, distribution, and logistics services with a purchase that adds truck capacity and a greater depth of logistics services in the Southaest.

The purchase of Savannah, Georgia-based Crown Transportation strengthens RoadOne's overall network with the addition of a container terminal in Savannah and more than 500,000 square feet of transload and warehousing capacity, as well as 100 trucks to serve port drayage and the transload operations in this area. In addition, Crown provides specialization in overweight cargo handling and transloading.

Going forward, the company's name will be Crown IntermodaLogistics in keeping with RoadOne's family of brands.

Crown Owner and President Rick Prevatt and COO Steven McAllister, will continue to run the company, supported by RoadOne's fuel, truck and insurance purchasing capabilities, national warehousing and depot services, and end-to-end TMS TrueVision technology platform.

In January 2019, RoadOne partnered with Nonantum Capital of Boston as its equity partner to support its continued coast-to-coast expansion efforts and to invest further in technology. In 2020, RoadOne also plans to expand its transload operations in Houston and Norfolk, along with markets in the Pacific Northwest.

"RoadOne's national presence, industry-leading resources, and strong entrepreneurial leadership team will provide us with the expertise we need to expand and build the nation-wide Crown IntermodaLogistics transload division,” Prevatt said in an announcement.

RoadOne and its affiliated companies deliver a comprehensive single source logistics solution to customers by providing port and rail container drayage, terminal operations, dedicated truckload solutions, transloading, warehousing and distribution solutions nationwide.

In recent years, RoadOne has adopted a three-pronged business model to address its customers' supply chain requirements for agility, flexibility and reliability. This framework includes a RoadOne company store model with 1,300 trucks operating out of over 40 locations plus an extensive agent network with over 600 trucks running out of over 35 terminals under the brands First Coast, Mile High, US, American and GuideOne IntermodaLogistics. In addition, RoadOne has a drayage brokerage operation, RoadOne LogisticSolutions, located in Tampa, Florida.
