Peterbilt announced new executive leadership, naming Jake Montero general manager and Paccar vice president. Montero moves up after two years as Peterbilt assistant general manager of sales and marketing.
He replaces Jason Skoog, who has announced that he is leaving Paccar for personal reasons.
Montero has been with Paccar for 19 years and has held positions of increasing responsibility.
According to his LinkedIn page, he started out as a design engineer with Kenworth in 2006, moving up through positions of increasing responsibility to eventually become director of field service and then director of after sales.
From 2017 to 2018 he was general manager of Paccar’s Silicon Valley Innovation Center, moving from there to Peterbilt, where he was general sales manager for vocational and medium-duty from 2019-2023.
“I am excited to lead Peterbilt during this pivotal time in the trucking industry with increased opportunities to leverage advanced technology and innovation to deliver first-class vehicle solutions to our customers,” Montero said in a news release.
Montero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Seattle University. He also completed the Stanford Executive Program from Stanford University in 2024. He will be based in Denton, Texas at the Peterbilt Motors Company headquarters.
Erik Johnson Moves Into Montero's Previous Role at Peterbilt
Erik Johnson will take over as assistant general manager of sales and marketing. Johnson has been with Paccar for 19 years, most recently as Peterbilt’s Denton manufacturing facility plant manager.
Like Montero, Johnson started his Paccar career as a design engineer with Kenworth, according to his LinkedIn profile. He moved up through various roles to general sales manager at Kenworth before moving to Peterbilt in 2022.
Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington.
