Fleet operators have a new option for managing compliance and vehicle tracking with the VT100 Vehicle Telematics Device from J.J. Keller & Associates.
The compact, plug-and-play unit combines an electronic logging device (ELD) with a 24/7 GPS tracking solution, reducing hardware needs and simplifying fleet oversight.
The VT100 integrates with J.J. Keller’s Encompass Fleet Safety & Compliance Platform to streamline hours-of-service compliance and vehicle monitoring. Fleets can deploy it as a standalone vehicle tracker or as a combined ELD and tracking device.
“The VT100 helps fleets simplify compliance and tracking workflows,” said Jason Hartwig, associate director of product management at J.J. Keller.
“By merging ELD and GPS capabilities into one unit, fleets can reduce installation time, lower costs, and maintain visibility into both driver and vehicle data.”
Features and Functionality of the New Telematics Device
Designed for Class 1–8 vehicles, the VT100 supports exempt driving, yard moves, personal conveyance, and team driving.
The unit connects via Bluetooth Low Energy to the Encompass ELD mobile app and continues transmitting engine and vehicle data to the cloud even when a driver’s mobile device is offline.
Key features include:
Real-time location, speed, and trip history
Geofencing and dwell time tracking
Automated IFTA and IRP reporting
Engine fault code monitoring
Odometer-based maintenance alerts
FMCSA-compliant ELD functionality
Compatibility with iPhone and Android devices
“The VT100 gives fleet managers both compliance and operational visibility in a single device,” Hartwig added. “With increased FMCSA scrutiny of ELD providers, ensuring reliability and accuracy has never been more critical.”
