C.R. England has introduced TempStack, 53-foot temperature-controlled, container-on-flatcar technology to its service offerings. The first shipment scheduled on October 15 from Chicago to Los Angeles.

"This is a significant addition to our customer offerings," said Zach England, vice president of Intermodal for C.R. England. "Moving containers via rail is more cost effective for our customers, increases their shipping capacity, expedites delivery and reduces their carbon footprint. In an environment when truckload capacity is diminished, rail container transport can significantly impact that capacity crunch. We are pleased to take this step and have plans for significant growth in the future."

C.R. England says TempStack is an innovative, temperature-controlled intermodal network offering significant cost savings, expanded network coverage capacity and a reduced carbon footprint. C.R. England's COFC technology will be the largest fleet in the industry that allows the ability to double-stack refrigerated containers on railroad flatcars, creating larger movement of freight through more green and cost effective transportation. The fleet will include 300 containers by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

C.R. England is using customized software to optimize load configuration, creating easy and fast options to efficiently load freight onto containers. TempStack also provides quality assurance through two-way communication that allows for temperature and load tracking management from remote locations.
