The International DuraStar is now available with Bendix Wingman Fusion, an integration of safety technologies that allows truck operators to reduce and potentially avoid vehicle collisions.

Bendix Wingman Fusion was initially offered on International’s Class 8 ProStar model but the company extended it to the DuraStar line because of interest from Class 6-7 medium-duty customers. Utilities are especially interested in the benefits of the system, according to Carl Webb, vice president and general manager of medium-duty truck at International.

Built on the Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program, integrated with camera and radar technology, Wingman Fusion gathers input to create a detailed and accurate data picture for the driver. The Bendix Wingman Fusion system combines a suite of Bendix safety technologies — radar, camera, the vehicle's brake system, and SafetyDirect by Bendix CVS — into a comprehensive driver assistance system.

Wingman Fusion is available for order on the International DuraStar this month and will be in production beginning in June.

International Truck has also added the Cummins ISL9 engine as an option for the WorkStar and DuraStar truck models.

"Adding the Cummins ISL9 to our line-up is a key part of our strategy to offer the most comprehensive options of proven components in the industry to our customers,” said Bill Kozek, president, International, Truck and Parts

The ISL9 expands the WorkStar and DuraStar’s powertrain options which already include Navistar engines like the N9, N10 and N13 engines. The ISL9  is rated up to 380 horsepower and 1,250 lb.-ft. of torque with flexible horsepower and torque ratings for medium-duty and vocational applications.

“Cummins and International have worked closely together to engineer the ISL9 in the DuraStar and WorkStar - offering a unique value package combination of performance and reliability,” said Kozek.
