As part of its continuing partnership with Major League Baseball, Old Dominion Freight Line has partnered with three teams for Spring Training Moving Day and the 2018 season.
Working with the New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels, and Kansas City Royals, Old Dominion will celebrate the beginning of a new season during the traditional Spring Training send-off known as Moving Day.
During the Mets send-off event, Old Dominion will host an invitation-only behind-the-scenes experience with visits to the ballpark clubhouse, a “Hot Stove discussion” with general manager Sandy Alderson, appearances by former infielder Edgardo Alfonzo as well as by team mascots "Mr. Met" and "Mrs. Met," interactive games, and a memorabilia raffle. Old Dominion will move the New York Mets to Port St. Lucie, Fla., for Spring Training on Feb. 1.
Old Dominion will also help the Kansas City Royals prepare for their annual trip to Surprise, Ariz. On Feb. 2, Old Dominion will load the team’s equipment at Kauffman Stadium in a commemorative trailer.
Finally, on Feb. 3, fans will gather at Angel Stadium in Anaheim to watch Old Dominion depart with team equipment for Spring Training in Tempe, Ariz. The Moving Day festivities will feature an Art of the Game exhibit, as well as hands-on games and activities for fans of all ages. Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs, and former pitchers Jim Abbott and Angels Hall of Famer, Chuck Finley, will sign autographs throughout the day.
Old Dominion will also partner with the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs for the 2018 season.
"Moving Day is the launch of the 2018 season. We’re excited to be a part of the festivities once again, and help our partner MLB teams move to Spring Training,” said David Carter, vice president of marketing and communications at Old Dominion Freight Line. “As the Official Freight Carrier for MLB, we share the values of hard work, drive for excellence and rigorous performance. OD’s promise of premium service is the only way to start the new season."
