Kenworth Truck Company has published a new Body Builder Manual to help support installations on the new T440 and T470 truck models.

The T440 is designed for regional haul, city pickup and delivery, municipal and vocational applications. The Kenworth T470 is for snowplow, dump, mixer, winch, refuse, and other heavy front-axle vocational and municipal applications requiring front frame extensions.

The 120-page manual provides detailed information on vehicle dimensions, ride heights, suspension layouts, ground and power take-off clearances, and frame layouts available for both models. The resource includes sections on safety and compliance, dimensions, body mounting, exhaust and aftertreatment, frame modifications, electrical system and routings.

The Kenworth T440 and T470 have a gross vehicle rating ranging from 33,000 pounds up to 68,000 pounds Both are available with 12,000 to 22,000 pound-rated front axles, 21,000 to 26,000 pound-rated single rear axles and 40,000 to 46,000 pound-rated tandem rear axles.

The T440 and T470 come standard with the 2010 Paccar PX-8 engine at 260 horsepower with 660 pounds-feet of torque. Additional Paccar PX-8 ratings are available up to 350 horsepower and 1,000 pounds-feet of torque.

According to Kenworth, the manual can help when spec'ing a vehicle, especially when the body builder is involved in the vehicle definition and ordering process.
