Volvo Trucks North America introduced a website, "Volvo Trucks & Environmental Care," demonstrating how the company's products, operations and facilities embody its core value of environmental care and what this means for customers, employees and society.
The website also provides detailed information about the advantages of Volvo's solution for meeting the stringent EPA 2010 emissions regulations, selective catalytic reduction (SCR).

Volvo's decision to use SCR for 2010 will lower emissions of nitrogen oxides to the near-zero levels required by new emissions regulations, while improving fuel economy by up to 3%. And with SCR, Volvo can meet the new regulations without using emissions credits.

The website explains in detail how SCR works with the company's other technologies to provide an effective and fuel-efficient complete vehicle approach to reducing emissions. The website includes a downloadable podcast which clearly explains the advantages of SCR.

Other sections of the website include:
• Trucks, Components & Features - details the environmental performance of current Volvo truck models and lists Volvo's technology in areas including emissions regulations, fuel economy, aerodynamics, anti-idling and alternative fuels.
• Facilities - presents information about environmental achievements and awards at each of the company's major facilities in North America: Volvo Trucks North America's headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina; the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia; Volvo's engine assembly plant in Hagerstown, Maryland; and, the Remanufacturing Center in Middletown, Pennsylvania.
• Volvo Trucks in Society - discusses the company's formal environmental policy, and its environmental-related community initiatives and public policy positions, including the positions of the entire Volvo Group.

An interactive "emissions calculator" lets visitors find out how much pollution is eliminated by the emissions technologies Volvo uses now, and how much more will be eliminated when Volvo's SCR-equipped trucks go into service in 2010.
