More than 300 customers and trucking industry officials attended the grand opening celebration of Peterbilt of Norfolk (Neb.) on May 1.

The event to showcase the new state-of-the-art commercial truck dealership included an open house, barbecue luncheon, vendor booths and numerous door prizes.

The $2 million facility is located on a 5.5-acre site at the intersection of Highway 81 and Monroe Ave. The 18,000-square-foot service center features a large retail parts store/warehouse, 10 service bays and a new/used truck sales lot.

The Peterbilt parts store first began operations in Norfolk three blocks east at 1018 Monroe Ave. in 2000. Three service bays were opened in the original building during the summer of 2005.

The new location -- designed to serve the rapidly-growing transportation industry in northeastern Nebraska with first-class trucks, parts and service -- opened for business in December.
