YRC Worldwide Inc. recently announced the 2012 winners of the Destination Green Environmental Excellence Award for employee leadership in sustainability. In the second year of the awards, two teams were recognized along with seven employees.
This year's awards recognize employee involvement in emissions reductions, recycling, and industry leadership in the driver community. The two teams and seven individual award winners were nominated by fellow employees and winners were selected by a committee.
The 2012 Team Recipients of the Destination Green Environmental Excellence Award are:
Customer Service Center Team, Des Moines, Iowa - The 275 employees who work at the Des Moines Customer Service Center have led efforts in going green, reducing costs and establishing best practices to support a more environmentally friendly place to work. Energy conservation efforts are extensive and embraced by the entire team.
Terminal 555 Team, San Antonio, Texas - The entire team works together to find ways to promote sustainability in all aspects of operations. Their paper recycling effort alone keeps about a ton of paper a month out of the landfill.

- Herschel Evans, City Driver, Atlanta, Ga
- Steve Fields, Road Driver, Kansas City, Mo.
-
Bryan Haggard, Harrisburg, Pa.

These 2012 Destination Green awards recognize only a few of the 30,000 plus employees of the YRC, Holland, Reddaway and New Penn companies who dedicate their professional careers to service, safety, security and sustainability.
The next round of Destination Green nominations will be accepted in 2013 and the awards for the year will be announced after a committee reviews employee nominations.
