The Wyoming Department of Transportation has expanded its winter Road Report service.
The Road Report provides regularly updated travel information, and can be accessed via telephone or the Internet. Information from the report is also broadcast on many Wyoming radio stations. Last winter, the system was overwhelmed at times as it was inundated with phone calls - as many as 14,000 in a single hour during some storms.
The department is more than doubling the call-handling capacity of the system. You can reach it in the state by calling 1-888-WYO-ROAD (1-888-996-7623) or by cell phone at #ROAD. From out of state, you can call (307) 772-0824.
The report is also available on the Wyoming DOT's website at http://wydotweb.state.wy.us. The site information has been enhanced. The pages providing detailed travel information specific to the southeast, southwest, northeast, northwest and central regions of the state now include camera icons you can click to get a video "snapshot" taken recently by the department's eight web cameras on highways around the state. Clicking on weather vane icons will produce a readout of weather conditions drawn from automated weather data stations around the state.
