For National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in January, we highlight some of the trucking industry's recent efforts to raise awareness, prevent, and help victims of trafficking.

Human trafficking is a crime that involves the use of force, fraud, or coercionto obtain labor or a commercial sex act. All commercial sex involving a minor is legally considered human trafficking.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration offers a web page, "Your Roads, Their Freedom," with information on human trafficking and what to look for to identify suspected trafficking at www.fmcsa.dot.gov/stophumantrafficking

Who to Call About Human Trafficking

If you are in the United States and believe someone may be a victim of human trafficking, call the 24-hour National Human Trafficking Hotline  at 1-888-373-7888 or report an emergency to law enforcement by calling 911.
