Volvo’s promised FL Electric trucks have finally made their way to customers in Sweden, delivering one spec’d as a refuse truck to a waste and recycling company and another as a delivery truck for a logistics company.
The Volvo FL Electric trucks are part of a pre-series of Beta models developed in collaboration with selected customers. The production of the FL Electric and the larger Volvo FE Electric will be at first limited to a few trucks for European markets and are expected to be delivered by the second half of 2019. The recipients of the first two trucks were waste company Ronova and logistics company DB Schenker.

"Our close collaboration with drivers and customers has enabled us to develop, in a short space of time, electrified transport solutions that meet high requirements in terms of performance, driving distances, cargo handling and vehicle use,” says Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks.
Late last year, Volvo Trucks announced that it would begin testing a version of the more powerful FE Electric with two California fleets this year under the name Volvo VNR Electric, with plans to bring them to the North American market by 2020.
“We will continue to develop our electrified offering," said Alm. “At the same time, we are steadily reducing the environmental and climate impact of our diesel and gas powered trucks, primarily through energy-efficient drivelines.”
