The city of Franklin, WI, has denied USF Holland's plan to build a 100-bay truck terminal.

The Michigan-based less-than-truckload company told union representatives last week that it will be moving 31 local trucking jobs to its facility in Rockford, IL. A representative of the Teamsters Local says the existing Franklin terminal, built in the late '60s, is so small that it's impossible to get the freight out to other terminals in a timely manner.
USF's proposed facility drew protests from a vocal group of local residents. Citizens for Franklin Neighborhoods went so far as to call for a recall of the mayor because he supported the terminal. As a result, the Franklin Common Council voted 4-1 against the proposal.
USF Holland will give its 31 local drivers the opportunity to move to Rockford, where a relatively new 120-door terminal is operating at only 70% of capacity.
