USF Glen Moore, Carlisle, PA, the truckload subsidiary of less-than-truckload carrier USFreightways, has acquired Tri-Star Transportation Inc.
Based in Knoxville, TN, Tri-Star operates 170 tractor-trailer units. Revenue for 1999 was $28 million, with two thirds of the total coming from Dedicated Fleet Operations.
This is the second acquisition by USF Glen Moore in six months. "It fits nicely into our overall strategy of expanding our presence in the truckload market through growth oriented acquisitions," said Cam Carruth, Chairman and CEO of USFreightways."
The Tri-Star management is will stay in place. Tri-Star will become the Dedicated Division of USF Glen Moore, along with enhancing the company's Southeast regional operations.
