USA Truck has entered into a long-term agreement with BNSF Railway to move private 53-foot domestic intermodal containers.
The majority of USA Truck's intemodal revenue, which grew 50 percent in the first half of this year, came from trailer-on-flat-car service. The new partnership will give the company the opportunity to expand that growth, USA Truck said.
"We believe these private containers will provide a much-needed additional source of environmentally friendly and cost-efficient capacity to our customers, and an additional avenue for us to further diversify our business model," said Cliff Beckham, the USA Truck president and CEO.
The company will make the private containers available to its customers immediately.
USA Truck is a dry van truckload carrier transporting general commodities.
