Nov. 10 – U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Chattanooga, TN, has ordered 300 Volvo 770 tractors. Volvo will deliver the units beginning in January. The U.S. Xpress tractors feature Cummins N14 engines and Eaton AutoShift transmissions.
“The Volvo 770 has all the qualities that are important to us in a highway tractor,” said Max Fuller, U.S. Xpress chairman. “We chose the 770 after running Volvo’s demo units for about six weeks. Our drivers were ecstatic about the comfortable ride, the quiet cab, and the overall roominess and storage space. Today, taking care of business means taking care of drivers.”
