The Oklahoma Transportation Authority has approved its first toll increase in nearly six years on the turnpikes across the state - with a hike for truck drivers as much as double that for cars.

Beginning Jan. 1, tractor-trailer drivers will see increases ranging from 25% to 30%, compared to a hike of 15% for auto drivers, reports the Associated Press. Truck drivers currently paying $11 to travel the Turner Turnpike from Oklahoma City to Tulsa will pay $14.25 under the new fees. On the H.E. Bailey Turnpike, a $10 toll to travel from Wichita Falls, Texas, to Oklahoma City will rise to $12.50.
Holly Lowe, deputy director of the Oklahoma Transportation Authority, told the paper that trucks are getting a larger toll increase because their vehicles do the most damage to the turnpikes.
