The Truck Renting and Leasing Association's (TRALA) Board of Directors has unanimously elected Dan Murphy, president and CEO of Idealease, Inc., as its chairman for 2014-2015.
Murphy addressed the membership for the first time at TRALA's annual meeting from March 10-14 in Scottsdale, Ariz. He said he intends to nurture and support the Alexandria, Va.,-based TRALA's core advocacy mission.
"Never before has our industry faced challenges as numerous and serious as the ones posed by the federal government and state and local governments," Murphy said during the March 13 speech. "Raising money for TRALA's 2014 Legal Action Fund and Political Action Committee, TRALAPAC, will be critical this year."
Murphy said the association will continue to focus on its industry scholarship program begun by Steve Lawrence. The program helps TRALA employees and their children pursue training as diesel maintenance technicians. Murphy said he would contribute $10,000 annually from Idealease.
