Secure and Defend your Fleet

According to a press release, Serjon has designed a module-based cybersecurity training program tailored for North American truck fleets.

The online coursework features eight lessons or modules that cover cyber threats and risks, cybersecurity basics, firewalls and endpoint protection, equipment setup and configuration, and more.

“In response to increasing security threats and attacks on businesses of all sizes, Serjon built the program to be an informative, practical and affordable online resource for small- and medium-sized businesses,” said Urban Jonson, senior vice president of information technology and cybersecurity.

The goal of the courses is to better enable fleet executives to secure and defend their business information technology systems, equipment and companies against threats and attacks. The courses will also help fleets build incident response-capable and resilient organizations.

Serjon said it leveraged Jonson’s cybersecurity expertise in the transportation sector — especially heavy-duty vehicles — to create a special module within the series entitled Defending Heavy-Duty Vehicles, which will help students understand the unique cybersecurity threats against trucking companies and heavy vehicles.

The course covers a broad range of topics and possible weak points, including bring-your-own-devices, USB drives, HD radio, Bluetooth, telematics/ELD devices, general RF attacks, maintenance system/tools and service providers.

These topics are covered in terms of general concepts and strategies for risk mitigation. The course also details how to get help if your heavy vehicles experience a cyber-attack.

“The Defending Heavy-Duty Vehicles” module was created specifically with ATA/TMC members in mind,” said TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell.

“It provides members access to this valuable resource to help improve the industry’s technical knowledge, foundational skills, and eliminate knowledge and skills gaps in specific areas and better protect member companies and their critical assets.”
