With final antitrust approval of SAF-Holland’s takeover of Haldex, the company announced that the Haldex ModulT DBT22LD air disc brake will be available on Navistar International LT and RH series tractors.

With final antitrust approval of SAF-Holland’s takeover of Haldex, the company announced that the Haldex ModulT DBT22LD Air Disc Brake will be available as an option on Navistar International LT and RH series tractor platforms, effective in April.
The DBT22LD is new to the ModulT product family and optimized for North American tractors.
According to SAF-Holland, the DBT22LD offers customers more uptime and lower operating costs with a simple design. Key features are the large-diameter, single-piston, and lube-free slide pins. The brake package also features the premium Haldex LifeSeal+ double diaphragm spring brake chamber, which has a fully sealed spring brake housing to extend the product's life.
“We are very excited to grow our long-term partnership with Navistar,” said Matt Resch, vice president – OEM Power Sales (Americas) for SAF-Holland. “The ModulT DBT22LD and the LifeSeal+ brake package will be a great start to this growth.”
SAF-Holland Haldex Takeover
On Feb. 23, SAF-Holland announced that its takeover of Haldex gained final antitrust approval from the Polish antitrust authority. German and U.S. antitrust authorities had already declared their approval. Last June, SAF-Holland made a cash offer to Haldex AB shareholders to acquire all of their shares.
The chairman of the management board of SAF-Holland, Alexander Geis, said in a statement: “SAF-Holland and Haldex are a perfect match when it comes to technology: axle and suspension systems, telematics and EBS control will now grow to converge into one intelligent unit.”
Haldex re-entered the North American air-disc-brake market in 2016, bringing its ModulT Air Disc Brake to North America. It had previously sold air disc brakes in the U.S. but had to withdraw its previous ADB product offfering in 2011 after Bendix prevailed in a patent lawsuit. The ModulT Air Disc Brake was honored with an HDT Top 20 Product award.
In 2016, SAF-Holland and ZF both made unsuccessful bids to buy Haldex.
