California's rolling blackouts his the Port of Long Beach Monday, with power interrupted to at least three container terminals.
According to the Journal of Commerce, the port administration building also lost power Tuesday morning.
The neighboring Port of Los Angeles was not affected, because it is not part of the state's electricity grid. Instead it is part of the Los Angeles system, which so far this year has had a surplus of capacity, according to the paper.
The rolling blackouts in Long Beach hit the International Transportation Service ("K" Line) terminal, the California United Terminal (Hyundai Merchant Marine) facility, and Zim-American Israeli Shipping Co. terminal for an hour to two hours, at different times of the day. The ITS terminal switched to its backup power system shortly after the blackout began and suffered only minimal disruption.
