Prime Inc., Springfield, Mo., announced it is installing the Eaton VORAD collision avoidance system in new trucks it adds to its fleet.
The Eaton VORAD EVT-300 collision warning system transmits radar signals from the front and sides of the truck. Alerting drivers to take evasive action. The system can truck up to 20 vehicles at a time. The “SmartCruise” option maintains driver pre-set speed and following intervals while cruise control is engaged.
Prime President Robert Low says the company expects a measurable reduction in accidents and cargo claims that will more than offset the investment in the system.
