A special webinar from the editors of Heavy Duty Trucking will explore alternative fuels and the future of the internal combustion engine at noon eastern time on June 20.

This webinar is part 2 of the HDT webinar series, “Road to Zero,” which is providing real-world insights for fleet managers dealing with the push to decarbonize trucking.

Webinar: Alternative Fuels and Internal Combustion Engines

The trucking industry can’t transition to zero-emission vehicles overnight. There is still plenty going on in the development of more efficient engines and alternative fuels such as renewable diesel, renewable natural gas, even hydrogen. Learn steps you can take now and in the near and medium term to move along an emissions-reduction path.

On June 20, HDT Editor and Associate Publisher Deborah Lockridge will moderate a panel discussion with the following speakers:

Allen Schaeffer, executive director, Diesel Technology Forum.

The forum is a non-profit educational organization fccusing on the sustainability of advanced diesel technology. Schaeffer has more than 30 years of experience working with environmental issues, as well as transportation, climate, and energy policy, previously with the American Trucking Associations.

Don Hayden, president, M&M Cartage Co., Louisville, Kentucky.

Named an HDT Top Green Fleet nearly every year, M&M has been operating natural-gas-powered trucks for a number of years, recently moving to renewable natural gas, and is implementing its first electric trucks via a truck-as-a-service platform.

Keith Wilson, president and CEO, Titan Freight Systems.

This regional less-than-truckload carrier is using renewable diesel on the path to zero emissions and is taking delivery of its first battery-electric trucks. Wilson was a 2022 HDT Truck Fleet Innovator.

This special editorial hot-topic webinar series is made possible with the sponsorship of Mann + Hummel FleetDirect, Odyssey, and Rush Enterprises.

Learn More About Emissions Reduction on Demand

The first part of the series, “Drawing a Road Map to Emissions Reduction,” is available on demand. A panel with speakers from the North American Council for Freight Efficiency, Walmart, and Benore Logistics explored how fleets can get started on a path to lower emissions. How do fleets evaluate their operations, options, and resources? How can they start setting goals? How do they measure progress?

Mark Your Calendar for 'Road to Zero' Part 3

The third installment in this webinar series, "Zero-Emission Trucks Today and Tomorrow, is scheduled for Sept. 20, 2 p.m. eastern time.

Hear from fleets that have already been adopting electric trucks in their operations. Which applications make the most sense right now? How do you handle the challenges of charging? Maintenance? Range? Financing? Can you “future-proof” your EV journey? What role will hydrogen fuel cells play?
