The California counties of Orange and Riverside, located in the Los Angeles area, are considering construction of a $2 to $3-billion freeway between the two counties to reduce traffic congestion.

According to the Los Angeles Times, transportation officials from both counties met earlier this week to discuss the issue and debate three possible routes through the Cleveland National Forest.
The Times said no decision was made, but consideration will be ongoing as officials from both counties expressed an interest in easing the commute for residents. Riverside officials have been looking into the construction of a new traffic corridor for more than a year as part of an overall county transportation plan.
Any plan will require many layers of approval, including from forestry officials.
