Forward Air Corp’s. motor carrier subsidiary, FAF Inc., is raising owner-operator pay effective Jan 4.

The contractual base rate will increase by 10 cents per mile for team less-than-truckload and truckload express service while rates for solo truckload express drivers will increase by 6 cents per mile.

Forward Air said when the new rates take effect owner-operators will receive $1.08 per mile loaded and 98 cents per mile for empty LTL team truck service and 98 cents per mile loaded and empty for LTL solo truck service.

The rate increase will result in owner-operators receiving $1.15 per mile loaded and $0.98 per mile empty for truckload express team service while solo truckload express drivers will receive $1.06 per mile loaded and $0.98 empty.

All Forward Air owner-operators will be eligible for a 2-cent-per mile rate increase for all miles driven by drivers who have their hazmat endorsement, according to the company, and an additional 2 cents per mile rate increase for all miles driven in trucks that are no older than 5 years old.
