"in an effort to further increase transparency and public awareness of FMCSA safety programs, encourage collaboration, and stimulate innovation," according to the announcement.
FMCSA's Facebook page will be updated daily and will feature announcements, events, important updates, and other information of interest to stakeholders.
"FMCSA values the input of all safety stakeholders, including enforcement, industry, safety advocates and the public," the agency says in its announcement. "By sharing ideas, we can make a greater impact in improving safety on our nation's roadways."
FMCSA also notes that the communication landscape has changed greatly over the past decade, realizing that people are used to and want more real-time updates than ever before.
Information posted to the FMCSA Facebook page can also be found and verified through the agency's official website at http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/.
