Debby Closes Part of I-10 in Florida

The Florida Highway Patrol closed parts of Interstate 10 in north Florida this morning due to flooding as Tropical Storm Debby continues to drench the state with rain.
State troopers reported several areas of flooding on a roughly 50-mile stretch of the highway east of where it crosses I-75.
As of about 4:30 eastern time, I-10 eastbound was closed from I-75 to US-41 and I-10 westbound was closed from US-90 to I-75 due to flooding. State officials advise drivers to use caution and seek an alternate route.
Many other roads and highways in the state have been flooded, as well, and in some cases washed out. State officials say drivers in the northeast part of the state should expect strong winds, heavy rains, and possible local road closures.
In the Tampa Bay area, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on I-275 is closed in both directions due to a high wind advisory.
For the latest closures, go to Florida's 511 website.
By last night, Debby had dumped more than a food of rain in 96 hours on some parts of the state, and forecasters were calling for another 4 to 8 inches across northern Florida in the next several days.
At least one person has been killed by a tornado spun off of the large storm system.
