Texas-based refrigerated carrier Continental Express has purchased the assets of Ohio company Ranger Refrigerated Express for an undisclosed amount.

Continental is a national company based in Sidney, Ohio. Ranger Refrigerated is based in Fort Worth and serves primarily the state. The new Fort Worth location will join Continental’s current terminals in Sidney, Ohio; Gaffney, South Carolina; Danville, Virginia and Louisville, Kentucky.

“Logistically this makes perfect sense for our current business strategy and also for future expansion plans,” says Continental owner Russell Gottemoeller. “We currently have a good presence in Texas but lack the physical location to continue to expand in this market. Bringing this facility into the Continental network will allow us to service all of Texas and the entire Southwest United States."

He also says this purchase will now provide Continental drivers and trucks with a home base in the Southwest.

Continental Express says it has hired existing Ranger Refrigerated employees. The company also plans to hire additional drivers and support staff. Continental says it employs over 420 drivers, mechanics and office staff companywide. The company website says it has 315 trucks and 700 trailers.
