Wabco, a leading producers of electronic braking, stability, suspension and transmission control systems to the global commercial vehicle industry has received prestigious awards from two renowned Chinese truck and bus manufacturers.
The Yutong Group named Wabco Best Quality Supplier 2006," and the engine branch of the China National Heavy Truck Group (CNHTC) honored Wabco's performance with the recognition "Best Supplier 2006," one of the highest recognitions for the company's suppliers.
"Being selected among Yutong's group of more than 800 suppliers is a great success for all Wabco teams in the Asia Pacific region and worldwide who work hard to offer high service and product quality to our customers," said Leon Liu, regional president, Wabco Asia Pacific.
"These awards are evidence of Wabco's continuing commitment to the Asia Pacific region's commercial vehicle industry," said Wabco president Jacques Esculier. "Both awards recognize our efforts to continually improve the way we work closely with customers across all regions of the world to use our global experience to better serve local market needs," Esculier added.
WABCO has been present in China for more than 20 years. The company entered the region via a license agreement with a local component supplier and formed in 1996 its Shandong Weiming Automotive Products Ltd. (SWAP) joint venture with a major local component manufacturer based in Jinan in the northeast. In 2004 the company began the construction of a wholly-owned $16 million manufacturing facility and distribution centre in Qingdao, a major port city in Northeast China.
Today Wabco produces a range of braking and control products and systems, air dryers, air processing units and valves for domestic and export markets, destined for both vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket. More than 30 authorized WABCO service centers operate in China in addition to a network of authorized distributors in major
cities.
