California has begun work to improve Highway 152, a notorious road linking Silicon Valley with Interstate 5.
The construction work may be just the beginning of several projects designed to get truckers off the windy, two-lane road, reports The San Jose Mercury News.
Among the changes planned, the newspaper reports, are:
A flyover ramp at the 152-156 intersection
Adding truck passing lanes and turning lanes to 152 east of Gilroy
Widening Highway 25 to four lanes, making it more friendly to big rigs as an alternative to 152
Improving ramps at 152 and 101
Widening 152 east of Gilroy to Millers Slough
Adding traffic lights at some intersections on 152.
