More than 1,300 International RH and International LT trucks are being recalled because the brakes could drag.

On these trucks, the exhaust port on the Hill Start Assist valve located outside the frame can become clogged with ice and debris, preventing the release of service brake application pressure.

Failure to release the application air for the service brakes may result in dragging brakes or an inability to safely drive the vehicle out of traffic, which may increase the risk of an accident.

The vast majority of the recall involved 1,241 2023-2026 International LT tractors produced between October 10, 2022, and April 23, 2025.

In addition, 62 2024-2025 International RH tractors built between April 10, 2023, and January 5, 2024.

Which International Trucks Are Subject to the Recall?

The suspect vehicles have air tanks located between the frame rails, and Eaton or International automated manual transmissions with electronic stability control or automatic traction control, and without Hill Start Assist Valve Location Inside Frame.

This recall is a follow-up to an August recall of more than 1,100 2024-2026 LT and 2025 RH trucks for the exhaust-port clogging problem.

After a customer had trouble finding the suspect valve in the location described in the recall service procedure, International realized that there was an error made in the suspect population for the August recall.

Some vehicles were included in the recall even though they didn’t have the Hill Start Assist valve located on the outside of the frame. And some vehicles with the Hill Start Assist (HSA) valve on the outside of the frame rail were not initially included in the suspect population.

The remedy will involve rerouting the Hill Start Assist valve exhaust to an alternative location. For safety recall 25508 (25V501) an inspection will be added to the service procedure to determine if relocation of the Hill Start Assist (HSA) valve exhaust is necessary.
