Bay Area Toll Hike to Take Effect Sunday
Drivers in the San Francisco Bay Area will be paying more for tolls starting Sunday, July 1. Tolls are increasing on all seven state-owned oll bridges in the area for big trucks, recreational vehicles and cars towing trailers, reports the Mercury News

The increase by the Bay Area Toll Authority affects the following bridges: Bay, Benicia-Martinez (above), Richmond-San Rafael, San Mateo, Carquinez, Dumbarton and Antioch.
Drivers in the San Francisco Bay Area will be paying more for tolls starting Sunday, July 1. Tolls are increasing on all seven state-owned oll bridges in the area for big trucks, recreational vehicles and cars towing trailers, reports the Mercury News.
Tolls for a three-axle vehicle will increase from $10.50 to $15, and rise for a truck with five axles from $18 to $25. The toll for a regular two-axle car towing a two-axle trailer will increase from $14 to $20.
The increase by the Bay Area Toll Authority affects the following bridges: Bay, Benicia-Martinez, Richmond-San Rafael, San Mateo, Carquinez, Dumbarton and Antioch.
Increases do not include the Golden Gate Bridge as those tolls are set by the Golden Gate Transit District.
The increase is part of a two-phase increase approved in 2010. Although the first phase of toll hike went into effect in July 2010 for most vehicles, the increase for multi-axle vehicles was delayed for one year to allow commercial trucking firms to incorporate the higher tolls into new contracts with shippers.
