A trucking company involved in dry bulk hauling in the Midwest has bought up one its main competitors, according to published reports.
Minnesota-based Bay and Bay Transportation has purchased J&C Trucking of Wisconsin for an undisclosed amount.
J&C primarily focuses on hauling dry-bulk shipments its home state and Minnesota, while Bay and Bay concentrates on the entire region for the sector.
The move increases the size of Bay and Bay’s dry bulk fleet by 50%, or more than 150 trucks, while giving it more than 500 trucks in its operation that also includes dry van, flatbed/specialized, less-than-truckload, refrigerated and intermodal hauling, along with brokerage services.
J&C will reportedly stay in its current headquarters along with the current staff.
"The addition of J&C Trucking to our tank division is powerful. We'll achieve an even higher operating ratio due to the overlap in freight networks and improved equipment efficiency," said Bay and Bay CEO Sam Anderson.
