Dragonfly Energy’s new Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack is designed to cut fuel costs and extend battery life for long-haul trucks.
The lithium power system was created to eliminate idle time and alleviate strain on starter batteries by providing dedicated power for hotel loads in long-haul trucks.
Designed for trucking fleets and owner-operators with sleeper cabs, the DFPP is particularly well-suited for fleets that do not use auxiliary air conditioners.
Looking Beyond Auto Stop/Start
“Listening to fleets has shaped our next product innovation,” said Wade Seaburg, chief commercial officer for Dragonfly Energy, in a news conference during the American Trucking Associations Technology & Maintenance Council annual meeting in Nashville.
A key insight the company discovered was that less than 25% of fleets get factory installed air conditioning in their bunks – although nearly 100% get bunk heaters.
“That gap right there that tells us a lot fleets want driver comfort, but the tools they've had, like traditional APUs and auto stop/start, they haven't always delivered the expected results or the ROI that the fleets have been have been looking for or anticipated.”
Dragonfly Energy’s answer was the Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack.
Using lithium battery technology, it powers auxiliary loads while the truck is parked, reducing unnecessary engine starts and extending battery life by removing cycles from the starter batteries.
Once the truck is back in motion, it recharges using Wakespeed Charge Control Technology, making use of available energy without additional fuel consumption.
Engineered for universal compatibility, the DualFlow Power Pack installs inside the sleeper cab under the bunk without any modifications to existing systems.
Eliminating Idling for Hotel Loads
Seaburg outlined two scenarios for the use of the technology.
Most of that 75% of fleets that don’t have bunk air conditioning rely on auto start/stop systems to manage the battery voltage during a 10-hour rest period, he said.
But using the lithium battery technology, he said, there’s no reason that the auto stop/start should kick on in the 10 hour rest period.
“In mild weather, you should be able to run all of your systems, electronics, your [bunk] heater, fans, everything in the cab that's driver comfort, for a 10-hour period when you don't need the air conditioning.”
At the same time, it keeps the cranking batteries at their optimal voltage and reduces the wear and tear on the engine, because the truck doesn’t have to auto stop/start just to charge batteries.
“And you stretch that battery life, potentially making those cranking batteries last for the entire first trade cycle of the truck.”
These fleets would likely have to have the truck idle during the warmer months to keep drivers comfortable, he said.
“But for the other nine months out of the year, you're always going to be able to rely on lithium power to provide the power for those electronics and that fan that's blowing the [bunk] heater.”

It still can benefit that 25% of the industry with factory-installed air conditioning in their sleeper cabs, he said.
“They're typically running eight AGM batteries. They're still not getting through the entire rest period when they require that air conditioning power.
Using the DFPP, he said, “you tap into the lithium power for the first six or seven hours of the rest period, and then we tap into the AGM power for the remainder of that cycle.
“That gets you through the entire 10 hour rest period. It also reduces the cycling on those AGM batteries so that they can make it longer through that entire trade cycle.”
A Practical Way to Incorporate Electric Power
With a low price point and an ROI well under a year, the company believes fleets can quickly recover their investment and witness significant real-world savings in fuel costs, battery replacements, and maintenance.
"As the long-haul segment looks for practical ways to incorporate electric power, we see the DualFlow Power Pack as a form of hybrid electrification that delivers real savings and efficiency that just makes good business sense," said Seaburg.
“Fleets need practical, cost-effective solutions today, not just future promises," Seaburg said. "We believe this system helps them cut fuel costs, extend battery life, and reduce emissions without overhauling their existing infrastructure—making life on the road easier while driving real sustainability."
The direct benefits of the Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack include:
● Eliminates Idling – Provides reliable power throughout the mandatory 10-hour rest period, eliminating the need for idling during rest periods and saving an average of four gallons of fuel per day.
● Extends Battery Life – Protects starter batteries by minimizing deep discharges and idle strain, reducing the risk of premature failures and costly replacements.
● Easy Installation – Installs in under an hour with no physical modifications required, making it a quick and hassle-free upgrade for any fleet or owner-operator.
● Versatile Design – Engineered to be universally compatible with most sleeper cab models, the system can be mounted in any orientation—typically under the bunk inside the cab—to reduce vibration and shield it from road debris and wear.
● Safe and Reliable – Built with LiFePO4 battery chemistry and an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) for industry-leading safety, performance, and dependability.
● Built to Last – Engineered for the demands of long-haul trucking and backed by a 10-year warranty, ensuring lasting durability and reliability on the road.
The Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack joins the Battle Born All-Electric APU and the Battle Born Liftgate Power System, but is a separate system, not designed to work with in conjunction with the others. It is available for purchase today.
