Amerit Fleet Solutions, which provides customized fleet maintenance and repair programs nationwide, is ramping up to service electric vehicles nationwide.

During the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, the company announced it is partnering with electric vehicle manufacturers to set up programs for servicing electric vehicles: the Amerit EV Anywhere nationwide service program and EV Ready technician training program.

In addition, it unveiled the EVolution Mobile Service Center, or MSC, a fully electric service truck designed to provide maintenance and repairs for electric vehicles, charging hardware, and internal combustion vehicles.

Creating EV-Certified Techs

According to Karen Vinton, vice president, marketing and business development for Amerit, these programs will create a nationwide footprint of certified technicians, trained to provide maintenance and repairs for the coming influx of electric vehicle fleets.

The Amerit EV Ready program works in partnership with OEMs to train Amerit technicians in top markets across the country, providing rapid scalability for OEMs and essential support for fleets as they electrify. EV Ready technicians will be certified to provide warranty support and repairs for EVs and charging hardware, ensuring fleets have the essential services they will need as they increase the number of electric vehicles in use across the country.

“We are committed to using our industry experience and talented technician staff to become the preeminent EV repair and maintenance leader across the country,” said Dan Williams, CEO of Amerit. “Electric vehicles are the future, and we will continue to provide best-in-class services and solutions to current and future customers as they make the switch.”

Williams added that the Amerit EV Anywhere and EV Ready programs will leverage Amerit's footprint of 1,575 technicians. With a presence in every major market in the U.S., he said, “We think we have an opportunity here to step up and support EVs everywhere in the country.”

Zero-Emissions Service Truck

Fully electric and zero emissions, the EVolution MSC is a collaborative effort with Phoenix Motorcars to enable Amerit technicians to provide maintenance and repairs for electric vehicles, charging hardware and ICE vehicles side by side. The EVolution’s battery power is designed to support a full shift, powering all tools and equipment throughout the night, and returning the technicians home in the morning.

Another capability of the EVolution MSC is its ability to perform rescue missions. Drawing from its own on-board battery packs, the EVolution can provide 5-10 miles of charge to a downed EV, enabling the vehicle to be driven to a charging station or back to the fleet location.

Demonstrating its commitment to supporting EV fleets and reducing its own greenhouse gas emissions, Amerit announced a standing order to purchase EVolution MSCs from Phoenix Motorcars that will go into service in 2022.

“The EVolution MSC is an important innovation from Amerit that is uniquely designed to support blended fleets,” said Dan Williams, CEO of Amerit.“Electrification is a powerful trend affecting fleets across the country. Amerit is committed to providing innovative, best-in-class solutions that support fleets as they electrify.”

Joe Mitchell, CEO of Phoenix Motorcars, added that its Class 4 all-electric chassis has completed over 3 million zero-emission miles.

Correction, 3/16/2002: An earlier version of this article said Amerit would have 1,575 EV-certified technicians. It has been corrected to reflect the fact that Amerit is leveraging its network of 1,575 technicians.
