Sometimes, the best way to tell a story is with photos. Whether it's an overview of a trucking show or a more detailed look at a new truck or technology, HDT photo galleries give readers a look at a topic in a way that words just can't convey. Here are the 2019 photo galleries that drew the most web traffic:
1. The Cabovers of the Mid-America Trucking Show
Cab-over-engine (COE) tractors were once a mainstay of the U.S. truck fleet, but in 1982, the Federal Aid Highway Act changed the way length restrictions were applied. That move sealed the COE's fate, and most OEMs had ceased COE production by the mid-1990s. Yet cabovers still hold their mystique and popularity with a small hard-core group, as was evident at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2019.
2. Meet a Mack Snowplow Built for a Tough Alaska Winter

Equipment Editor Jim Park shares photos from Valdez, Alaska, where he joined Mack Trucks' video crew filming an episode for season 2 of the Road Life series. The series is about Mack customers and their trucks, and this episode features a Mack Granite snowplow specially built for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.
3. The Nikola Two Hydrogen Electric Truck Up Close

At Nikola World, Jim Park explored this Nikola Two on display. As seen here, the tractor weights about 18,000 pounds, it's a day-cab setup with no sleeper, but there's about three feet of space behind the seats that could, and will be, converted to a sleeper when it's set up as the Nikola One.
4. Mid-America Trucking Show 2019 in Photos

The 48th annual Mid-America Trucking Show attracted thousands of visitors again this year, in spite of critics who say the show is on its last legs. With just two years to go before the show achieves its 50-year milestone, attendance is down a little compared to previous years, but many exhibitors said they were pleased with the traffic they saw over the three-day event. Jim Park was there.
5. TMC Annual Meeting 2019 in Photos

Jim Park took a Peterbilt Model 579 Epiq on a 1,000-mile trip between Scottsdale, Arizona, and Denton, Texas.
8. North American Commercial Vehicle Show: More Images from the Floor
This year's North American Commercial Vehicle show featured an expanded show floor at the Georgia World Congress Center with more room for suppliers and OEMs to set up displays and host press conferences. Over the course of several days there was plenty for HDT's editors to see. Additional NACV galleries that didn't quite make our top 10:
9. Antique and Classic Truck Show, Clifford, Ontario

Clifford, Ontario, is barely a dot on the map, but it is antique and classic truck central the first weekend of July. Located in the agricultural heart of western Ontario — about three hour's drive from Detroit — the show attracted nearly 300 trucks from Ontario, Quebec, New York, and Michigan.
10. Mexico's Mega Truck Show

This Brazil-built fully electric 268-hp VW e-Delivery 11 model is slated to go on sale in Mexico in 2021.

Expo Transporte is Mexico’s biggest truck and bus show and HDT Executive Editor David Cullen traveled to Puebla, Mexico to get a taste of trucking south of the border.
