Consolidation among suppliers has helped convince trucking fleets to buy trailer tracking and other telematics products,
according to a report from ABI Research of Oyster Bay, N.Y.
The report says that acquisitions of telematics vendors by stronger players, will help to alleviate concerns by fleet owners previously hesitant to invest in the technology for fear that their vendor support would disappear.
The report cited TransCore’s acquisition of Vistar, a company specializing in GPS-based telematics, and AirIQ's recent acquisition of telematics provider Aircept.com.
ABI Research has just released the latest update of its "Commercial Telematics Quarterly Service," which examines the latest quarterly data for shipments, revenues and penetration of embedded hardware and portable devices.
