George S. Young of George Young Co., Philadelphia, Penn., has been elected president of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Assn. (SC&RA).

The association elected new officers during its recent conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The following officers were also elected for the 2003-2004 term:
Chairman, Daniel R. Barclay, Dan Barclay Inc., Wharton, N.J.; President, George S. Young, George Young Co., Philadelphia, Penn.; Vice President, James M. White, White Brothers Trucking Co., Wasco, Ill.; Treasurer, James Vitez, KMX International, Hamburg, Penn.; and Assistant Treasurer, William Sterett, Jr., Sterett Crane & Rigging, Owensboro, Ky.
Additionally, SC&RA elected the following new board members to serve three-year terms:
Michael Battaini, Sheedy Drayage Co., San Francisco, Calif.; Ron Montgomery, Intermountain Heavy Haul, Salt Lake City, Utah; Gary Stang, Anderson Trucking Service Inc., St. Cloud, Minn.; John Ward, All States Freight System, Twinsburg, Ohio; Doug Williams, Buckner Heavy Lift Cranes, Graham, N.C.; and Bernard E. Weir, Jr., Norris Brothers Co., Inc., Cleveland, Ohio
SC&RA is an international trade association of nearly 1,100 members from 40 nations. Members are involved in specialized transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance, millwrighting and crane and rigging operations, manufacturing and rental.
SC&RA helps members run more efficient and safer businesses by monitoring and affecting pending legislation and regulatory policies at the state and national levels; researching and reporting on safety concerns and best business practices; and providing four yearly forums where these and other relevant member concerns can be addressed.
